With the school’s provost opening her speech with, “What is a provost? Well, it’s not to be confused with Prevost, North America’s leading manufacturer of high-end coaches.”
She read my mind.

It’s only when I got into university that I “learned” new, useless words like provost and ombudsman (or ombudsperson). I never encountered these words prior to university. I still am not really sure what they mean, so when I say I “learned” them I mean that I learned that they existed.

Fun fact: Prevost was founded and is still based in Canada, which makes them one of our largest homegrown motor vehicle manufacturers. I believe New Flyer (based out of Winnipeg) is the largest.

You’ll notice they said “North America”... can’t come straight out and admit it’s Canadian :)

Further fun fact: Prévost are owned by Volvo (truck company, not car company).
